9 Things I Won't Blog About

I am a pretty open book on this blog. I love to share about our adventures in the military, our faith, our struggles, etc. My family and friends joke that I am going to turn our latest conversation into a blog post... guilty? Sometimes. This little corner of the Internet has become my space to write about almost everything, but there are a few topics I just won't touch.

1. Going Gluten Free
I love eating healthy as much as the next person, but I really don't understand the movement behind the gluten free diet. Obviously if you have celiac disease, I get it. Of course you will lose weight by cutting carbs, but how much healthier can a gluten free pastry be than a regular pastry? I love breads and cookies and cakes, so I work out so I can have them. If you're going to do something wrong (like eat a giant chocolate chip cookie), do it right and have your cookie a la gluten. I probably just lost a few readers with that confession. Honestly, to each his own, but I don't think the gluten free thing is for Parker and me.

2. Running a Marathon
This one seems hypocritical since I am currently training for a half marathon, but let me explain. I have no intention of running a full marathon. Ever. These joints just can't handle that. I know they say running can be addictive, but I plan to check the half marathon off my bucket list and continue to run for fun afterwards. No 26.2 miles over here, please. For those of you who run full marathons, yall are studs!

3. Wine
I think wine tastes nice sometimes, but Parker and I are the worst wine drinkers ever. We know nothing about anything wine-related. If you quiz us and ask us if Cabernets, Pinot Noirs, and Pinot Grigios are red or white, we will fail. I've heard those names, but I have no idea what they taste like... or mean, for that matter.

4. The Arts
And by the arts, I mean singing, dancing, acting...you know, the arts. I am one of the least gifted individuals in this area that you will ever meet. I can't match pitch, I have two left feet, and I don't foresee many casting calls in my future.

5. Cats
We are dog people. If you've read this blog long, you probably aren't too shocked by this confession. We love our pup! Parker is also allergic to cats, so that eliminates the possibility altogether even if we had the desire to adopt a feline friend.

6. Politics
I have an opinion, but it's just not something I feel like talking about on this blog. Politics can get people pretty heated, so I am a fan of avoiding the subject altogether. I also don't think I am educated enough on the matter of politics to discuss it.

7. Video Games
Okay yall, I didn't grow up with brothers. I thought video games meant playing Super Mario when you were younger and then graduating to watching television and playing on your iPhone. Then I got married. Why do boys love video games so much? I honestly have no idea, so I am not going to write about it. That said, you would think I would since this is a lifestyle blog, and video games certainly seem to have a constant presence in our lives.

8. Make-Up Tricks
If someone would like to come over and teach me how to put on make-up like an adult, I would greatly appreciate it. I equate my make-up skills to that of a 4 year old's finger painting ability. It's just not the prettiest, but I do what I can.

9. My iPad
I have a laptop and a smartphone, so I think getting an iPad would be slightly redundant. Technology on technology on technology for days!

So there you have it. Those are the 9 topics that will likely never grace this blog. Never say never, though. I could always become a marathon running, cat loving, video gaming wino in the future. Stranger things have happened, I'm sure.

Hahaha! It has been proven that going 'Gluten Free' is not the "healthier" option. People think it is, but what people don't know is that what Gluten Free products lack in the "wheat" department, they pick up in the 'Sugar' load or other areas. People like myself who have Celiac Disease have no other option, because our bodies don't know how to break down regular foods, so for us, it obviously is healthier! ;) It is just a fad right now I think. I had a good laugh at some of these though! haha! :)

I agree with almost all of these except wine of course :-P

I saw the best e-card the other day that said only 1% of the population is actually allergic to gluten and the other 99% is tired of hearing about it. I will take my cookies and breads with gluten please.

And as much as I'd like an ipad, I have an iphone, a lap top, and a kindle fire and also feel it would be redundant. Definitely not something I "need".

Hahaha, yes to cats & video games! Totally agree. Won't find that on my blog either! And yes to the whole ipad thing. I agree with you there too! =) Hahaha, love the Simon Cowell face!

HAHA! Rob sat for 20 minutes-- TWENTY MINUTES, last night watching cats getting scared and jumping around on youtube. The entire time he wanted me to watch it and kept saying, "look babe, watch this". The worst thing is-- neither of us really care of cats, him especially (dog people). And I'm SO glad I don't want to read about you running marathons, etc. It makes me happy!!

I just learned that we have SO MUCH in common! I am not gifted in the arts, either - like, at all. And although I've found my favorite wine, I still have NO IDEA what those things mean or taste like either. Seriously.

Also, my husband is a video game ADDICT! But blogging about it? No thanks!

Also, I'm 110% with you on the politics! I, too, have an opinion, but I'm not going to write about it...mostly because I like to avoid people being upset about it and I'm not educated enough to really have a stance.

I look forward to NOT reading about these things. :)

I'm with you on pretty much all of these things, Chelsea, though I do hope to run a marathon someday! I have to say though - I'm the worst makeup person ever. I try and try and try, but I always look like a preteen girl wearing makeup. At least Ryan likes the minimalist approach I pretty much always take :)

I completely agree about the Gluten free thing! my brother in law had celiacs and because he had to give up all things gluten he was missing out on A LOT Of vitamins and minerals he body needed, which he had to compensate for in many vitamins by mouth. So I don't see the huge thrill of it!

I'm definitely with you on most of these! Especially the make-up. There will be no make-up tips coming from me ever!

I agree with you on so much of this stuff! 1. A very close friend of mine has cecliac disease so I hate when people go gluten free as a fad. 2. I think wine is gross. I have yet to find someone who agrees. 3. We are dog people too! No cats for us. 4. I have an opinion on polotics, but I agree that my blog is the format I want to discuss it 5. and I think iPads are dumb.

I giggled through this entire post while also shaking my head in agreement (except for the marathon thing because we both know I'm nuts)! Video games = nay.

And this is why we're friends! Also, please just blog about having babies! Just saying.

HAHAHAHAHA! Too funny! I LOVED this post! My doctor had me try giving up gluten and we found I was ridiculously intolerant to it (not celieac, but close) and I STILL eat it from time to time, and suffer the consequences of getting sick and feeling achy. I don't get "the fad" part of it, and it kind of makes me angry when people just assume that you must be doing it because it's the new black!

I felt like this entire post could be transferred to my blog! There are some subjects just off limits, and then some I just don't feel like I need to express! Great post!

This totally cracked me up. It will admit to having acquired a taste for 1 type of wine, because it's sweet. And to find it I googled the sweetest types of wine.

Good luck with the HALF marathon and avoiding cats.

Ugh video games lol. I love them and hate them at the same time. COD? No thank you.
I'm right there with you about makeup. That whole contouring and highlighting? Tried it and looked like I put on a mask for Halloween!
I totally felt like you with the iPad. I had a desktop computer, laptop, iPhone, and Kindle (ink, not fire). Why did I need an iPad. Then Nick got one for the FRS and his GIANT ass NATOPS. And I feel in love. I HATED reading my Bloglovin feed on my iPhone because a lot of images and videos wouldn't load unless I nativated away from Bloglovin to their actual website. So I would just use my laptop. But laying bed, on my side, it wasn't conducive. Insert iPad. I LOVE using my iPad to read all my favorite blogs or to even blog on the go. Was it necessary? Absolutely not. But Nick bought me one since I kept stealing his lol

Politics is the #1 thing I will never ever talk about on my blog or in person. It causes way too many issues.

Oh the gluten free one! I'm severely allergic to wheat and gluten, so I obviously eat gluten free. It's definitely not healthier when you add in processed gluten free version of the gluten filled version. It's not a good diet unless you have to live on it. And the people who do it as a fad diet make restaurants take people like me less seriously. I had a waiter who after I explained I was gluten free for medical reasons said "oh yeah you can have that. I was gluten free for a while" to later return and say "it has some bread crumbs in it, but you still want it right?" And I was like "What part of my throat swells shut did you miss?" I really can't stand the gluten free fad at all. It kills me. The only time a gluten free diet is healthy is if you cut out all the processed foods and get your whole grains from things like oatmeal, brown rice and quinoa, but I wouldn't call that a gluten free diet so much as a really healthy diet with minimally processed foods...which is kind of what Americans should be eating anyway. I'm all for everything in moderation, though. I work out so I can have a piece of cake when I really want it, and I feel no shame in that.

And the iPad thing. Oh god. I can't. Like, no your 4 year old doesn't need an iPad. At all. They sell a baby seat/bouncer thing (can't think of the name right now) that has an iPad attached to it. We are totally not giving our kid screen time like that. We clearly turned out fine without iPads as kids.

OH and the only reason I have any clue how to apply makeup is because I went to the MAC counter and was like "I don't know what i'm doing and I need an everyday look." It was really helpful honestly! I'd highly recommend it! I mean, you'll spend a small fortune buying a set of makeup from them to do the look at home, but I buy makeup less than once a year because it lasts so long!

I love this post. I especially felt connected with the gluten free portion. My mom found out she is gluten intolerant about 3 years ago. In the beginning I told her I would try to eat gluten free with her because I knew it would be a hard transition for her. After attempting it, I don't understand the whole hype about it unless you or a family member cannot eat gluten.

Jordan plays video games ALL the time. I don't understand. And I'm not a cat person either ;)

Hahahahaha!!! This post made me laugh. Love it. I'm a wine drinker and I classify my wines in2 categories, Wines I Like and Wines I Don't. Super classy, right? No clue about all the different hints and undertones and fancy ways to drink it... Lol! :) I do enjoy whatever pairs well with Love Actually. :)
