Five on Friday

Happy Friday! Another weekend is upon us, and to keep things nice and easy on this fine Friday, here are 5 things that happened in our neck of the woods this week.

1. I asked Parker what he thought I should blog about, and his response was as follows: "You could blog about the weather and all this rain we've been getting". I got ready to laugh until I realized he was serious. He really wanted me to write a blog post about the rain. Husband, would you want to read a blog post about the rain??

2. We had a date night this week and saw A Simple Favor. I tend to think Blake Lively can do no wrong and Anna Kendrick is always funny, so I was so excited to see it! I loved it! Parker hated it!

3. I've started videoing my child's tantrums because I think they're funny. I'll just be over here filling out my application for mother of the year.

4. Jenny has gained the toddler 15... you know, the weight a dog gains from eating all the food said toddler drops onto the floor. I noticed the other day that she is eating less of her food, and now I realize it's because she's holding out for the good stuff that she knows her kid brother will drop. Well played, Jenny. Well played.

5. The weather has finally started to cool down, and if it weren't for the 10,000 mosquitoes that have taken up residence in our yard, we would be living outside there days. Ugh, shoot, I just blogged about the weather. Oh well, the south Texas mosquito infestation has been a big part of our week. I promise to have something slightly more riveting for you next week.

Have a great weekend! Our crew will probably be doing some variation of this. I'm not mad about it!

Friday Confessions

It's time for another round of Friday confessions. Another Monday through Thursday has come and gone, and sweet, sweet Friday is upon us. So here's what's on my mind this week:

I confess... The Bachelor is over, and now I don't know what to do with my Monday nights. Oh wait, yes I do. Dancing With The Stars. I might as well route for Nastia and Derek because I really cannot fathom a scenario where they do not win.

I confess... I made a coconut banana bread loaf last week and caught my husband picking the entire loaf up in his hands, taking a bit out of it, and placing it back on the platter. I even placed a knife next to it so he could conveniently slice a piece, but that was just too much work. Men.

I confess... Every time I say "Norfolk" it sounds like I am cussing, but that's how all of the locals say it and by golly, I'm just trying to fit in. They pronounce it Norfuk, much to my parents' horror.

I confess... We haven't had snow in over a week. It's a Virginia miracle! Let's keep this trend going, please.

I confess... It's Friday the 13th. This has no significant meaning to me whatsoever, but some people go nuts over this combination for some odd reason.

I confess... It's starting to sink in that Darla is leaving us soon, and we are really bummed out about it. I know her mom is so ready to see her and this deployment has gone on long enough, but Darla feels like a part of the family and I hate imagining not having her here.

Never have I met a dog who sits more like a human.

I hope you all have a great weekend! It's Friday, and that's something to smile about in my book.

Friday Confessions

It's been a crazy week here on the home turf, so I thought some simple Friday confessions were in order. Here's what came to my brain:

I confess... I had a couple of small, scaly patches on my upper arm, so I self-diagnosed it as a ringworm and picked up a topical cream from CVS to treat it. After a couple of weeks using that cream and no results, it hit my brain that maybe it was just dry skin. I used moisturizing lotion, and it was gone a day later. Dummy, party of 1.

I confess... Parker got to fly the C-2 to Kentucky where his parents live and got to see them for about an hour. They were all on cloud nine! They snapped this picture, and I was just mesmerized by how cool my husband is. I see him in that uniform every day, but I got all giddy and couldn't get over how handsome he looked in front of that plane! I have a crush on my husband.

I confess... I started a small kitchen fire a couple of weeks ago and resorted to knowledge acquired from the movie Gone In 60 Seconds to put it out. Nicholas Cage used baking soda, so I used baking soda, and my fire was no more. Science is cool like that.

I confess... Realizing that we probably carried Taylor longer than we thought we did and writing about it yesterday made me so giddy and grateful, so much so that I'm mentioning it two days in a row. I can't help it. That little girl was a miracle in every since of the word.

I confess... We spring forward this weekend and I. can't. wait. Raise your hand if you're over the snow? Spring forward may mean we lose an hour on Sunday, but it also means Spring and Summer are on their way and getting dark at 6 PM is a thing of the past.

Yall have a great weekend! It's Friday, so go right on ahead and do that happy dance. You know you want to.

Weekly Confessions... It's Friday, Yall

Hallelujah, it's Friday! I like to scroll through my iPhone at the end of the week and blog based on what I took pictures of. Then I realize that I only took pictures of the dogs all week, just like last week and the week before that. One of these days that will change, but really, probably not.

So, enough about that. Here's what's been going on in our world.

I suppose it's only right if I start off with a note about the pups. I think they are starting to rub off on each other.

I had a doctor's appointment the other day, and I could have sworn the receptionist was Katy Perry. I mean seriously, look at that resemblance! I shamelessly asked how the VMAs were, and she was nice about it considering she probably gets that all the time. I'm a major creeper with this picture, but tell me that doesn't look like her!

I got nostalgic seeing this at the store the other day. Kids these days probably have no idea you used to take pictures and couldn't see them before they were developed. Who knew they still sold these antiques?!

Parker and I are loving football season. The Aggies are 3-0, so what's not to love? However, if the games could stop beginning at 9 PM, that would be dandy. I'm not in college anymore. I can't stay up that late! We bring the enthusiasm in the first half though.

Okay friends, have a fabulous weekend. And smile. It's Friday!

Friday Confessions

I am doing that Friday happy dance right. this. minute. Thank you Lord for another Friday! Some confessions from the week...

I confess... Parker surprised me with seasons 1 & 2 of Friends, only the greatest show ever made, and we have been watching the oldies but goodies on a nightly basis. He watches Friends with me, and I watch Game of Thrones with him. I know, so not a fair trade.

I confess... I plan our dinners at the beginning of each week so I have an idea of what I am going to cook. Meal planning is harder than actual cooking in my mind. I had bacon wrapped BBQ chicken on the menu one night, and the husband was so excited. That's man food, after all. I then decided to nix that and replace it with hot dogs in crescent rolls. So we ate like 5 year olds, the husband had to wait another day for his man meal, and I was happy as a clam. Marriage.

I confess... I didn't plan on really liking Virginia too much, but I was so wrong. We really love it here. Thanks, Navy! You did it again.

I confess... I took the dogs for a walk yesterday, and they saw a cat. The next series of events was something out of a movie. They both bolt for the feline, and I am literally being dragged by their leashes. I can handle one dog when she sees a cat. Two is a totally different ball game. Eeesh.

I confess... This is the first weekend in a while that we have had no plans. I love it. Right now, nothing sounds better than sleeping in on Saturday morning with nothing to do when I wake up.

I confess... This picture of Jenny makes my heart happy. I just love her so much.

Happy weekend friends!
