Just Go Outside

Fall is here, and it's absolutely GORGEOUS outside! The caps were obnoxious in that last sentence, but it seemed necessary because seriously, it's amazing out there. Texas doesn't really do Fall. They do a cooler summer, but being in Virginia is the first time we have really felt a Fall. We were missing out. The leaves are all turning red and orange, and there is a nice cool breeze blowing at all times. If I were a coffee drinker, I'd head to Starbucks right now and grab a Pumpkin Spice Latte because that just seems to be the thing to do.

Lately, Parker and I have been making any excuse to be outside. We head out to the backyard almost every afternoon to throw the football or frisbee. I prefer the football, but we had to temporarily switch when I jammed my finger... apparently you shouldn't try to catch a football with your finger tips. Who knew? Taking the pups on walks is awesome. I didn't know you could walk the dog and not sweat your rear end off. Fascinating.

I have been itching to go hiking, and Parker so kindly obliged this past weekend. It was my favorite moment of the weekend, and I asked if we could make it a weekly thing. There is just something about being surrounded by beautiful nature in beautiful weather with the ones you love. We left Darla at home for this one because her little legs can't do more than about 15 minutes, but Jenny had an absolute blast. This is the kind of stuff we did with her before Darla came into the picture, so I am really glad we picked it back up again. We snapped a few pictures and enjoyed hiking through the middle of nowhere. Pure bliss.

So that's it. Short and sweet today. Just do me a favor and go outside. It's too pretty not to.

Question: What's your favorite outdoor Fall activity?

I also love being outside in the fall! Running on trails through the crisp leaves is probably my favorite... but even just sitting outside on the deck talking is nice in the fall! :)

It's even turning to fall in Florida. The temperature is in the 80's! I love sitting outside on the lanai in the morning reading my bible and newspaper and drinking my coffee. Love you both! (all 4 I mean)

My husband and I always sit on my porch swing and drink hot tea under a fuzzy blanket after we put the baby to bed. Perfect weather for it!

I love being outside in general but I love fall the best. You don't really get fall in southern California it is cooler but it is hard to see the leaves changing. I miss it back home in Canada where I am used to having four seasons. Thanks for sharing.

I'm all with you on the excited all caps for fall!! I think one of my favorite outdoor fall activities is going to the cider mill or just sitting around a bon-fire with friends...

We're planning on going to a pumpkin farm this weekend for a little corn-maze-pumpkin-picking action, complete with a picnic! It's a little early for it, but by Oct our leaves are pretty much done turning and it's cold already. So we're taking advantage of the nice weather while we can!

Fall is the perfect season to explore Virginia! You can go hiking or apple picking in the Shenandoah, and all of the historical homes are gorgeous this time of year.

I love this weather! I've been sitting outside on my porch with a book in the evenings.

I honestly feel like we've had the nicest stretch of weather the past week and a half that we've had in YEARS. I'm sure that's not the case, but that's how it feels! No rain, no humidity- just sunshine and gorgeous- like you said!

I love hiking and we're currently living on Oahu. During deployment it was my go to, to help pass the time. As much as I love going to the beaches here, being up on the ridges is my main preference!

Hiking is our favorite thing too!!! We have trails that lead off our backyard and go throughout the woods, open to a field, and a lake and it's amazing! We go out there weekly with the pups. It's great because Nick and I get quality time together, just talking about life and the dogs get off leash running....and NOTHING wears a dog out like off leash running! Not to mention they get to swim in the lake and they love it! I just wish it was a LITTLE cooler because it's still pretty freaking hot here. Don't get me wrong, I love the heat, but hikes during midday are a little rough.

Hikes in the fall are the best! I love them because the air is a little crisp and you don't die of heatstroke. Not to mention the leaves are gorgeous :) Looks like you had a wonderful time!
