Our Last Weekend In South Texas

So technically, the title is a lie. We will be here next weekend as well and moving immediately after. That weekend will be devoted to family, winging festivities, and packing, so this is truly our last weekend to ourselves in our home of Corpus Christi, TX. It still doesn't seem real. We have met some amazing friends here that I am so sad to leave. Goodbyes are the hard part of military life, and those goodbyes include having to leave friendships you've grown to treasure. The great thing is that it's a small Navy. We will all cross paths again, and I just have to keep telling myself that every time the Navy takes us away from people we grow to love. It's not "goodbye". It's "see you later". We are fortunate to be bringing some of our friends with us to Virginia, so that part is nice!

This weekend was spent doing a little bit of everything. I like to think of it as the calm before the storm. We saw two movies, went to the pool with friends, grilled with friends, took the pup on a few nature walks, and Parker had his last graded flight of flight school. It was just a fun weekend in every sense of the word. I made sure to document (shocking, I know), so here is our weekend in pictures:

Side note: We saw Maleficent and X-men this weekend. X-men was more Parker's kind of moving, and he loved it. Maleficent was totally up my alley, and I really enjoyed it. Angelina Jolie is brilliant in her role. So well cast. Okay, side note over.

The pool on base finally opened, and we were so excited! They have a giant slide, so no further convincing was needed on our end. There is something so refreshing about a pool. Parker chose to see the "feet first" rule on the slide as more of a guideline and quickly turned around halfway through sliding. Rebel without a cause.

The couple that lived next door to us moved out a few weeks ago, so we got to raid their refrigerator. That is one of the benefits of constantly moving. You get the leftovers that those before you leave behind. You pay it forward when you move, so it's a great little system. Anyway, my neighbor gave me these nifty little treats, so I enjoyed a poolside margarita out of a pouch. Keeping it classy over here.

Parker had a flight Sunday, so that was unfortunate, but Jenny and I had a little quality best girlfriend time and went on a long walk. We stalked the jack rabbits and chased the seagulls, so it sounds like a successful walk to me!

Parker later joined us for a quick trip to the ocean. There is nothing sweeter to me than these two together. There's something about a man and his dog!

All in all, it was a great last weekend in Corpus Christi. It makes us so sad that this won't be our home much longer, but we were blessed to call it home for the short time that we did. Our goal is to be back in this area in four years, so we will see! Right now, we are just enjoying the adventure. Next stop: Norfolk, VA. Here we go!

How was that margarita in a pouch? My hubby, daughter, and I will be going to visit my parents in Florida at the end of the month, and I'm envisioning plenty of pool time. It would be nice to have a little treat while we're there!

You always have an eventful weekend. Glad you're doing good and keeping busy. I know moving can be bad and good. But, I bet it's cool to decorate different houses.

Oh I'm so jealous
1- of the fact that you got to see maleficent
2- of the margaritas...even if they are from a pouch! Still better than no margaritas!!

Where in VA are you moving? Hampton Roads, by any chance? I live here and it's a big Navy area so I thought I'd ask! If that's true, we should hang out when you get here :) Sarah

Loving the "daddy and doggy" pictures, so sweet! Good luck with the move, and remember that for every sweet friend you're leaving behind, you'll make up for at the new base ;-)
