Weekly Confessions

It's that time again. On the eve of everyone's favorite day of the week, I thought I'd share what's been going on in our neck of the woods.

I confess... As soon as we do the part at church where we shake hands with those around us, I immediately reach for the hand sanitizer in my purse. Germaphobe, party of 1. I am inclined to blame my father, who started this little habit. It's still flu season and I am determined not to get it!

I confess... When people start talking politics over lunch dates, I shut my mouth and nod along. I am not great about watching the news and could stand to be more informed, so I just stay quiet. It's not that I don't have an opinion, because I do, but it's because I largely see the topic as neither here nor there. I'll show up on voting day and cast my vote, but I just don't feel the need to worry about every little decision Congress decides to make. I might should, but I don't.

I confess... I got the dog mom fail award last week. I opened the pantry door to grab some food and closed it behind me. About 30 minutes later, I was talking to Jenny (don't pretend you don't talk to your pets) and realized I hadn't seen or heard Darla in a while. I started calling for her and running around the house like a maniac trying to make sure she was okay. Then it hit me. I knew exactly where she was. Sure enough, I open the pantry door, and out comes our little Darla. She just sat in their quietly waiting to be let out. My bad.

I confess... I had toast with avocado and over-medium eggs and grapes for lunch the other day and basically decided I was the master chef. A monkey could have made it, but I patted myself on the back for using so many colors and keeping it pretty nutritious.

I confess... Parker and I were talking about roles or jobs or something like that the other day. We labeled him as a pilot, leader of our household, etc. I then asked him what he thought my role was, and he confidently said "dog mom". Well that's great. He quickly added "and a mom to Taylor" and something about my work job, but I have decided to give him a hard time about this for the foreseeable future. If anyone needs me, I will be dutifully reporting to my role in this world as a dog mom.

Yeah, the cat got locked in the in-laws' sunroom more than a handful of times last year. And I talk to the cat more than I talk to my husband. #militarywifeproblems

I have two things of hand sanitizer at my desk at work -- I totally understand being a germaphobe.

Haha! There are worse things to be known as than a dog mom! Too funny. Also, I do the same with hand sanitizer. I HATE germs. Dan thinks I'm nuts.

If it makes you feel any better I accidentally shut Grace in the bathroom all the time. She is so quiet!
